St. Mary’s Credit Union sponsors Reality Fair at MHS October 30
Marlborough Rotary Club partnering with Marlborough High School since 2004 for financial literacy

The Marlborough Rotary Club recently announced that St. Mary’s Credit Union has agreed to sponsor the Reality Fair at Marlborough High School (MHS) on Tuesday, October 30. Started in 2004 by the Marlborough Rotary Club in partnership with MHS, this will be the 14th year of this annual financial literacy event.
The Reality Fair gives MHS seniors a taste of what it takes to earn a living and keep a budget in a fun, interactive format with volunteers from the local businesses playing themselves. Play money and a Wheel of Fortune/Misfortune give the project a game-like atmosphere that the teens want to win.
The volunteers love the interaction with the students as they see the light dawn in the kids’ eyes. Moreover, the volunteers make a positive impression on the teens as trustworthy people with whom they will feel safe in giving them business in the future.

“As one who has volunteered at the Reality Fair for the last several years, I am proud that the Marlborough Rotary Club started the Fair at Marlborough High School eleven years ago,” Rotary Club President David Morticelli said.

“We are grateful to St. Mary’s Credit Union for their sponsorship of this event,” Reality Fair Chair Peggie Thorsen said. “We also need volunteers who can give us one morning on October 30 to help students find their way through the Reality Fair and gain a clearer picture of becoming adults.” Volunteers may contact Peggie Thorsen at mathorsen@verizon.net .
