UPDATE: Marlborough Man Held Without Bail In Alleged Road-Rage Incident

Marlboro man scheduled for dangerousness hearing in Littleton road-rage incident

AYER – A 27-year-old Marlborough man who allegedly fired a shot at another car in what Littleton police describe as a road-rage incident was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing later this week.

In Ayer District Court on Monday, Steven Perez pleaded not guilty to charges of : assault with intent to murder; two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon; negligent operation of a motor vehicle; carrying a loaded firearm without a license; carrying a loaded firearm; possession of a firearm without a license; possession of ammunition without a license; discharging a firearm near a highway; receiving stolen property over $250; leaving the scene of property damage and a marked lanes violation, according to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan's Office.

Judge J. Elizabeth Cremens ordered Perez held without bail pending a 58A dangerousness hearing scheduled for March 8.

According to prosecutors, State Police were dispatched at 3:15 p.m on Sunday to I-495 south in Littleton for a report of a man who brandished a handgun and fired on a motor vehicle, before striking another motor vehicle and exiting the highway.

Authorities allege that Perez had allegedly been driving aggressively in the center lane of the highway. When passing a motor vehicle in the left lane Perez allegedly brandished a gun and fired at the other vehicle, prosecutors said. The occupants of the motor vehicle were not known to Perez.

State Police located Perez in Marlborough at an apartment complex where he was arrested. A search of the premises resulted in police allegedly finding ammunition and a firearm in a bush directly beneath a window that had been kicked out of a bedroom in an apartment Perez had allegedly been seen entering on surveillance video, prosecutors said.

The firearm allegedly matched the description provided by the alleged victims of the road-rage incident.
