Whiz Kid: Matthew Tavares, Soccer Prodigy

MARLBROROUGH, MA—This week, we put the spotlight on Matthew Tavares.

Age: 5

School: Meadow Brook School in Marlborough

Accomplishment: Tavares now has 135 goals in one year period. This fall, he started playing for Marlboro Youth Soccer and everyone was very impressed with him and that’s why his dad Jay also became a coach to MYS to encourage him a little more. "At 5 years old, he dreams really big, planning to play in big times as NE Revolution, Barcelona and PSG," said his dad.

Key to awesomeness: Tavares has always loved soccer since he began to walk and giving his first kicks. He started playing soccer when he was three years old, in January 2016 at Forekicks in Marlborough. Since then, he became fanatic for the sport and really good at it. On his first game he scored five goals, which is when his father began recording all games.
