Woman Hurled Racial Slurs During Marlborough Fight: Police

The 56-year-old was arrested early Tuesday morning on multiple charges, according to police.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — A Marlborough woman was charged with assault this week after a fight where she hurled racial slurs at a Black woman, according to police.

Just after midnight on Tuesday, police were called to the Royal Crest complex off of Hosmer Street on a report of a fight. At the scene, officers learned that a woman had pounded on the hood of a car in the parking lot, and then yelled racial slurs at the driver.

Nearby along Hosmer Street, police arrested Kelly Bennett, 56, of Cotting Avenue, and charged her with assault and battery, assault and battery to intimidate and vandalizing property. Bennett had pushed the victim during the altercation, but fled the scene when the victim's service dog got out of the car and began barking, according to police.

There were no injuries reporting during the fight, police said.
