MARTHA’S VINEYARD, MA — A huge snowstorm expected to drop up to 2 feet of snow in the mid-Atlantic states Thursday night will likely strike a glancing blow on Martha’s Vineyard Saturday—resulting in 4-6 inches of snow

Winter Storm Jonas on Thursday was churning over parts of Virginia and Maryland, where blizzard watches were issued.

But by the time the storm rolls up through New England, it will lose strength. Martha’s Vineyard is expected to receive 4-6 inches of snow.

The bigger problem for Martha’s Vineyard will likely be strong winds. Gusts could hit 50 mph or higher Saturday and Sunday, possibly knocking out power.
