80,000 Expected on Martha’s Vineyard Next Week

With car reservations sold out and long waiting lists, the Island looking at a very busy 4th of July week

According to NECN, the 4th of July week will see close to 80,000 people traveling to the Island.

“The weather forecast is looking great and we typically carry about 80,000 passengers to Martha’s Vineyard during a typical fourth of July week,” said Wayne Lamson, general manager of the Steamship Authority.

“At the moment everything is sold out for vehicle reservations through Wednesday,” said Lamson who encouraged passengers who don’t have a reservation to check for updates on the Steamship Authority website.

For those travelers coming with bikes or on foot, there is no problem with passenger capacity.
