A Sunday Afternoon Poem

"Quay Side Way" by Chris Legge

Quay Side Way

Let the light in
Says Vesper to Morning Star
Darkness laughs - and sniffs
I'm alright for while

A pilgrim walks out of the shadows
Feet long and lean
Made for walking
Across the sky

Unfolding a paper dragon
Into a sun
An Old Soul scans the flat line
Seeking a still small voice

The pilgrim is upon us
Wondering where to open the wheel
We turn and point toward darkness
A sniff again
No return

Let the light in
Says the prophet to the monk
Rattle loose the crows to conjure
Unwield the weighty sword of knowing

A shimmer becoming
A glimmer awakening
An ember
A glow

Welcome home pilgrim
We've been waiting for you
