Beer and Wine at State Road…But Not Yet

State Road Restaurant has applied for the first beer and wine license in West Tisbury, but must get approval from the state before serving

On Wednesday, West Tisbury Selectmen unanimously approved ’s beer and wine license. State Road was instrumental in bringing beer and wine sales to the town and was the first to apply for and be granted a year-round license.

Mary Kenworth, who co-owns State Road with her husband Jackson Kenworth said that the process of bringing beer and wine to West Tisbury was, “A great one to go through and we couldn’t be happier with the results.”

While folks are already lining up at State Road ready to order wine with their dinner, the restaurant won’t be able to serve beer and wine until later this summer, as the license must still be approved by the state Alcohol Beverage Control Commission.

As to the types of beers and wines they will offer, Kenworth said it was still too soon in the process to tell.

“I do know that it is going to be extensive enough to accommodate all the ranges of price points. We’ll have wine options whether it is an extravagant night or not.”

However, when asked whether or not they’ll still be able to serve mixed drinks made with diner-brought spirits, Kenworth said, “We wish we could, but unfortunately, due to state regulation, it’s not allowed.”

They are also planning to serve bottle beer and beers on draft.

So until further notice, but for not too much longer, it’s still BYOB at State Road.
