Two Bodies Found in Plane Crash Near Brewster

UPDATED: 6:45 pm.  The two people aboard the small aircraft heading from Martha's Vineyard to Hyannis were found dead by a Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Cape Cod and a Brewster Fire Department crew at Saint’s Landing in Brewster, Mass. Brewster Fire Department located the first person and the helicopter crew found the second person, according to a U.S. Coast Guard press release.

The plane left from the Martha's Vineyard airport this morning en route to Hyannis. There was a call to the FAA around 10 am with reports of smoke in the cabin and a search began around 10:30 am after all contact with the plane was lost.

The names of the two passengers are being withheld pending notification of family members.

"The 73-year-old was an instructor and a part-time resident of Edgartown and the student who lived in Falmouth had a license, but was training for advanced certification, said Sean Flynn, manager of the Martha's Vineyard Airport," reported the Cape Cod Times.
