Five Things You Need to Know Today: January 22

Girls in the woods, a winter bee workshop, and "Around the World in 80 Days" are on the schedule for this snowy Sunday

1. Girls in the Woods meet today at in Aquinnah. For girls age 9 – 15, focus is on outdoor fun and sisterhood. 10 am - 4 pm.

2. There is a Winter Bee Workshop today at the Island Cohousing Common House. Participants will learn how to check hives in the winter and will make sugar cakes for supplemental/ emergency feeding and discuss feeding protein in March. Noon -3pm. $25. Space is limited. 3. The film “Around the World In 80 Days” screens at today at the in Vineyard Haven. Benefits the Island Food Pantry. Cost is a staple food item or cash donation for the pantry. 1 pm.

4. Rabbi Caryn B. Broitman will share experiences from her 2010 five-month sabbatical in Israel at the . Rabbi Broitman will talk about where she lived and traveled, sites that she visited, share some photos, and discuss the cultural, societal, and religious experience of living in Israel. There will be time for questions, and refreshments will be served. 2pm

5. The first of a four-session workshop: Getting 2 Know U: Your Body, Your Feelings, Your Mind: Sexuality education for eighth grade girls starts today. Taught by Joy Robinson-Lynch, MA LMHC at the in Vineyard Haven. 2 pm - 4 pm. Subsequent sessions are on Feb. 5, March 11 and April 1. $100. For more information, call 508-645-3017.
