Five Things You Need to Know Today: November 7

Today is Shearing Day at the Farm Institute, the Island Food Pantry is open and there's a Beginner's iPad class at Featherstone

1. It’s Shearing Day today at The Farm Institute. Learn the how, when and why of shearing with professional shearer Andy Rice. There will also be fiber arts, story time, oxen rides, and lamb pictures. Learn about their heritage breed Cotswold, Icelandic and Navajo Churro sheep. All ages welcome. Suggested donation $10/family, $5/individual. 10 am – 12 pm.

2. There is a Cooking Demonstration with Joe DaSilva of Saltwater Restaurant this morning at LeRoux in Vineyard Haven. Free. 11 am.

3. The Island Food Pantry is open today at Christ United Methodist Church. For people coming more than once, please bring a letter of reference, written on letterhead, from clergy, medical staff, health care access or employer stating need from the Pantry and then you can come every two weeks. 2 pm – 4 pm

4. This evening at Featherstone, there is a Beginner's iPad class with Karen Huff. $30. 5 pm – 7 pm. For more information, call 508-639-1850 or visit featherstone.org.

5. This evening Ursula Ferro will hold a workshop: Supporting Our Children at Times of Death and Loss at the Martha's Vineyard High School library conference room. Dinner and childcare available. 5:30 pm - 7 pm.
