Fly Yoga School and Broga Have a New and Permanent Home on Martha’s Vineyard
Sherry and Rob Sidoti to Open Yoga Haven
Martha’s Vineyard has a pretty good yoga instructor-to-yoga student ratio, and this is a blessing for the students among us - especially since most of the yoga teachers here are top-notch instructors.
Sherry and Robert Sidoti are two such teachers who have been leading the way and clearing paths for other yoga teachers for many years. However, about a year ago, whether or not to stay on Martha’s Vineyard at all was an unknown for the couple.
“We’d been traveling so much and had been teaching in so many places and scenarios. I just wasn’t feeling like I had a home,” said Sherry Sidoti.

“We were half a hair away from moving off the Island all together and then we were told about this space and it was a no-brainer. We realized we have so much to keep us on this Island.”
The space is the location of the new Yoga Haven, home to Fly Yoga School and Broga and it will be in the same complex as Tashmoo Insurance at 517 State Road in Vineyard Haven.

The two main reasons for opening Yoga Haven are Rob Sidoti’s Broga and Sherry Sidoti’s Fly Yoga School.
is a type of yoga created by Sidoti that is geared towards men. The Broga website describes Broga as “Strong, energetic, and challenging, it uses traditional yoga postures and fitness movements for an amazing workout.”
Fly Yoga School just recently finished the first half of its second (YTT) a few weeks ago. YTT is a 200-hour course accredited by Yoga Alliance, the only international yoga accreditation.
The success of the YTT and Broga’s recent growth in recognition and popularity, were part of the impetus of finding a home base here on the Island.
As of now, Broga classes take place in different locations and gyms on the Island and the YTT takes place at an exclusive and private location in Chilmark.
“However incredible the place in Chilmark is,” said Sidoti, “we don’t know if that can be an on-going thing. Plus, once the YTT finishes, there’s no place for the students to come back to. We really found after the second immersion ended that we needed to meet monthly, to be able to do clinics and there was nowhere for us to do that.”
The rapid growth of Broga has meant a lot of focus in Boston and beyond, but hasn’t given the system a place to grow on the Island. Yoga Haven means that there will most definitely be a Broga™ teacher training in the Island’s near future. In fact, they are already getting applications.
In addition to Broga and the Fly Yoga School, the Sidotis will also offer an on-going schedule of classes that includes different levels of Broga, yoga and Sherry Sidoti’s prenatal yoga, mommy and me yoga and her much-loved and missed Fusion classes. For those not interested or able to take weekly classes, there will also be a variety of workshops that will incorporate some of the YTT students and other yoga teachers from the Island.
There will be Broga workshops for policemen and firemen and high school athletes. The Sidotis also plan to use their connections to bring many of the world’s best yoga and fitness instructors to the Island. And since Fly Yoga is an accredited yoga school, the Island’s many yoga teachers will be able to earn their required continuing education credits by attending Fly Yoga workshops and special events.
“We do so much work supporting each other’s projects,” said Sidoti of her work alongside her spouse, “It’s really better for us to have a space for us to travel from. Plus, we have a son and he really needs to have a place and that place really needs to be here.”
The Sidotis hope to open Yoga Haven on or around Memorial Day weekend. For more information, visit the Broga or Fly Yoga websites.
