Baker Turns Back On Fishing Industry For Ocean Wind Turbines

Edgartown Conservation Commission Denied Permit To Make Muskeget Channel An Electric Submarine Superhighway For Ocean Wind Turbines

In October of 2014 during a pre-election debate now Governor Charlie Baker was asked about the last time he cried. Charlie spoke about a talk he had with a New Bedford fisherman who had asked his two sons to become fishermen, forcing them to give up several scholarships to college. Governor Baker stopped a couple of times during the speech with his eyes swelling with tears.

Governor Baker inaugurated on January 8, 2015, as the 72nd Governor of Massachusetts admitted the fishermen story came from a 2009 meeting with fishermen in New Bedford and was a favorite vote-getter ever since.

Baker a Republican squeaked out a narrow victory over former Democrat Attorney General Martha Coakley a wind turbine advocate. Coakley following the Massachusetts Democratic Party Platform in which case did nothing to help wind turbine victims in Falmouth and twenty-one other communities. The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection had brokered a loan on the Falmouth town-owned second wind turbine using federal ARRA funds for a turbine they knew was too loud. AG Martha Coakley at the time had no choice but to protect the MassDEP before residential homeowners.

Massachusetts ultimately failed the land-based wind turbine renewable energy goal of 2000 megawatts of renewable energy by the year 2020 over health and safety issues and now has set its sights on ocean wind turbine installations.

Today the construction of the $2.8 billion ocean wind turbine project off Martha's Vineyard, the nation's first utility-scale offshore wind farm, is on hold as contractors wait for an environmental impact statement from federal regulators.

Governor Charlie Baker has been meeting with Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt in Washington, D.C., to urge movement on the stalled ocean wind turbine project.

Those tears from Republican Baker in 2014 now look like Crocodile tears as Baker ignores the social impacts and safety issues brought up by the fishing industry.

Governor Baker is ignoring the death of two fishermen on the fishing boat "Mistress" (Jan 1,2019) near the Block Island, Rhode Island wind farm with the spacing of 2500 feet. The fishing industry wants 6000 feet.

Governor Baker is the chief executive of the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection who stuck in regulatory capture approved two 220,000 volt submarine cables between Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket despite the Edgartown Conservation Board rejection of the permit.\

Baker along with the legislature also handed out permits like Halloween candy to place shallow electric cables on Covell's Beach in Centerville, Cape Cod.

President Donald Trump said wind turbines cause Cancer. It's true, ask anyone who lives around a wind turbine in Massachusetts. The types of noise including infra-sound cause lack of sleep leading to shutting down your immune system.

Wind turbine noise and electromagnetic fields from the electric cables will end the fishing industry.
