High Wind Warning in Effect, Some Boats Cancelled

A High Wind Warning has been issued, Steamship Authority has cancelled morning ferries

There is a High Wind Warning in effect until 2 pm this afternoon. Winds will be coming from east at 25 -35 miles per hour with gusts up to 60 mph. There will be strong winds and possible down large limbs and small trees. Power outages are also likely.

The Steamship Authority has cancelled this morning’s boats between the Island and Wood’s Hole and may continue to cancel them through the afternoon. For up-to-date cancellation listings go to: http://www.steamshipauthority.com

A High Wind Warning is issued when sustained winds of 40 mph are expected for at least an hour with gusts of 58 mph or greater at any time. Damage to trees…power lines and property are possible. Take action to secure any loose outdoor objects.
