Island Musicians Take Stage Today at Aboveground Records

Aboveground Records has been an Island institution for the past 16 years and it plans on sticking around for at least that many more. However, in order to stay afloat as a record store in an age of downloads, owner Mike Barnes has decided to downsize.

Barnes, who owns the space, is going to divide the current store in half and rent out the other half to cover the overhead. But before doing so, he’s going to throw a party in true Aboveground style.

Today, a gathering of the Island’s greatest musicians will come together to celebrate Aboveground Records at the Back to the Future Super Celebration. It will be broadcast live on WVVY 93.7, all ages are welcome and there’s no charge to get in. Here is a line up of those to appear and approximate times:

12 pm: Doors open and WVVY starts broadcasting live
