It’s Official: Obamas Say Summer Plans Don’t Include Martha’s Vineyard
After months of speculation and rumors, Obamas confirm they won't be coming to Island this year

For months we’ve reported that all indications pointed to the president and his family not coming back to Martha’s Vineyard this summer, but this week, President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama confirmed those rumors. In an interview with CBS News that aired on Sunday, the Obamas said that though they weren’t sure where the family would be going this summer, most of the summer would be spent campaigning.
"The girls are now of an age where they start having their own stuff, so they have sleep-away camp for a month,” said Obama adding, "We're going to be experiencing the first stages of empty nest syndrome and, well, I get a little depressed.”
According to the first lady, the family will still “get family time in because anytime the girls are out of school that's important time for us to spend as a family.
