Lambert's Cove Road Reopens After 2 Months In Tisbury

Two months after a storm created sinkholes that forced the closure of the road for repairs, it reopened to through traffic Tuesday.

TISBURY, MA — Two months of weekly updates on the extensive work being done to repair Lambert's Cove Road after a storm revealed sinkholes that forced the closure of the road came the update that area residents were looking forward to on Tuesday: "Lambert's Cove Road At Smith Brook Is Open To Through Traffic."

The town posted the good news on its municipal website late Tuesday morning.

Sinkholes were first detected after a washout near Smith Brook in December. Contractors were brought on that recommended the the damaged culvert beneath the road be completely replaced. The flooded area had to be pumped out, the old culvert had to be removed and then a new plastic pipe was put in its place.
