Letter to the Editor: Sign Citizens United Petition

Look for volunteers at grocery stores and post offices with petitions to place Citizens United ruling on the state-wide November ballot are

Dear Editor and Readers:

Remember the Citizens United resolution at spring town meetings?  In all six towns, we voted to support Massachusetts Senate Bill 772 - “Restoring Free Speech”. It calls for the U.S. Congress to move to amend the U.S. Constitution to affirm that money is not speech, and that human beings, not corporations, are persons entitled to constitutional rights.

Now's the time for the next forward step: To place a public policy question (with the contents of S.772) on our state-wide November ballot. This requires 1,200 signatures on a petition – and it's now circulating on MV. You'll find volunteers holding the petitions at Post Offices and grocery stores.

Please continue the momentum established at town meetings, and sign the petition.
