Man Arrested After Vehicle Pursuit In Tisbury
The man reportedly made threats against police.

TISBURY, MA — A man who reportedly made threats against police was arrested after a vehicle pursuit in Tisbury early Monday morning. According to police, the pursuit happened around 2 a.m., when police tried to pull over a pickup truck driving at a high rate of speed near Cumberland Farms. Instead of stopping for police, the driver of the vehicle sped up, accelerating toward Five Corners onto Beach Road, then continuing toward the drawbridge toward Oak Bluffs, at times going more than 70 miles per hour.
Police say that the vehicle eventually came to a stop at Martha's Vineyard Hospital and the driver was arrested. Later, police learned that the driver had made threats to harm the first police officer he saw by striking them with the vehicle, according to Tisbury police.
While the man was being arrested, he reportedly admitted that he used cocaine before driving. He was charged with failing to stop for police, driving under the influence of drugs, possessing ammunition without an FID card, negligent operation of a vehicle, speeding, a marked lanes violation, defective equipment and having an unsecured load.
