Martha's Vineyard Among Best 2018 Summer Trips: TripAdvisor

Martha's Vineyard was selected among TripAdvisor's "10 Hottest U.S. Destinations for Summer 2018."

MARTHA'S VINEYARD, MA — Martha's Vineyard this week was again ranked as one of the top summer travel destinations. Needham-based TripAdvisor included the island on its "10 Hottest U.S. Destinations for Summer 2018." Martha's Vineyard was ranked No. 7; Mackinac Island in Michigan was ranked No. 1. Nantucket was ranked No. 10.

TripAdvisor's survey of 3,300 travelers found 87 percent plan on taking a summer vacation, up 6 percent from last year. The Northeast was ranked the most popular region for vacationers.

"(Martha's Vineyard) remains one of the most popular and picturesque destinations in New England," TripAdvisor wrote. "Travelers love stately Greek revival houses, seaside villages, 'beach town' feel and true retreats."

Martha's Vineyard is among the most expensive destination — an average week-long trip for one person is $3,535, according to TripAdvisor. Only Nantucket ($4,872) and Jackson Hole, Wyoming ($3,900), were more expensive.

TripAdvisor gave shout-outs to the Martha's Vineyard restaurant The Red Cat Kitchen and the Oak Bluffs island tour.
