Martha's Vineyard Film Festival, YMCA To Host Winter Drive-In

Martha's Vineyard Film Festival will show local holiday performances on the big screen.

MARTHA'S VINEYARD, MA—The Martha's Vineyard Film Festival (MVFF) and the YMCA of Martha's Vineyard are offering a Winter Drive-In this year as part of an effort to provide safe entertainment for residents amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and an opportunity for local artists to perform for an audience.

In partnership with the Martha's Vineyard Regional High School drama department, MVFF's Winter Drive-In will screen a homemade Zoom show of "It's a Wonderful Life" with songs from the Minnesingers on Friday, Dec. 18 at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 19 at 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

"For theater students and kids involved in these extracurricular activities, it has pretty much been disappointment after disappointment," MVRHS theater instructor Brooke Hardman Ditchfield told the Martha's Vineyard Times, "having to tell them this is cancelled and that is cancelled, so this has felt like a real triumph to come together and create a performance when we can't actually be together physically."

MVFF's Winter Drive-In will also be screening the Martha's Vineyard Figure Skating Club's live Holiday Exhibition on Sunday, Dec. 20 at 4:30 p.m.
