Martha's Vineyard Reports 14 New Coronavirus Cases

The latest report brings the Island's total number of cases to 298.

MARTHA'S VINEYARD, MA—The Martha's Vineyard Boards of Health reported 14 new coronavirus cases on Monday, the fewest reported in the last several weeks.

Out of the 14 new cases, two were reported on Saturday, seven on Sunday, and five on Monday. Eight were tested at the Martha's Vineyard Hospital, which tests symptomatic individuals, and six were tested at TestMV, which tests asymptomatic individuals.

Including the cases reported on Monday, Martha's Vineyard has experienced a total of 298 confirmed cases, according to information released by the Island boards of health, and the majority of the cases have been individuals between the age of 30 and 39.

Friday's data from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health revealed that Tisbury, Edgartown and Oak Bluffs are all coronavirus "red zones", meaning each town has reported over 25 cases in the past two weeks with populations of fewer than 10,000 residents.

Oak Bluffs became a "red zone" for the first time this week with 36 cases reported in the last two weeks. Edgartown joined the list last week, reporting 38 new cases in the last two weeks, and Tisbury has been considered a high-risk community since November 12, reporting 33 new cases in the last two weeks and remaining the Martha's Vineyard town with the highest number of cases.

As of Monday afternoon, there are currently 75 pending tests and no hospitalized COVID-19 patients at Martha's Vineyard Hospital.
