Martha's Vineyard Surpasses 500 Coronavirus Cases

MARTHA'S VINEYARD, MA—The latest weekly COVID-19 report released Wednesday by the Martha's Vineyard Boards of Health revealed that the Island has now experienced over 500 cases since the start of the pandemic.

Five new cases were reported on Wednesday, according to information released by the Island boards of health. They were all asymptomatic.

Including Wednesday's case count, Martha's Vineyard has experienced 512 total cases and 481 confirmed positive cases. The majority of the cases have been individuals between the ages of 30 and 39.

As of Tuesday afternoon, there are 118 pending tests and one hospitalized COVID-19 patient at Martha's Vineyard Hospital.

Thursday's data from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health revealed Oak Bluffs and Tisbury have once again joined Edgartown in the coronavirus "red zone" category, which means the three communities have experienced over 25 cases in populations of less than 10,000.

The latest statistics released by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health on Thursday reveal that Edgartown has reported a total of 121 cases, with 31 reported in the last 14 days. The town has an average daily incidence rate of 54.2 and a positivity rate of 5.42%.

Oak Bluffs has experienced a total of 91 coronavirus cases, with 35 reported in the last 14 days. The town has an average daily incidence rate of 48.0 and a positivity rate of 7.54%.

Tisbury has had the highest number of cases on the island, with a total of 130 cases and 26 reported in the last 14 days. The town has an average daily incidence rate of 44.5 a positivity rate of 3.36%.
