Missing Martha's Vineyard Dog 'Max' Found Safe In Edgartown
The Australian cattle dog that went missing after his owner was accused of abuse is in the custody of the Edgartown Animal Control Officer.

EDGARTOWN, MA — Max is safely back in the custody of Edgartown Animal Control.
The Australian cattle dog, whose owner was accused of abuse and then went missing after being placed with a third party last Monday, has been found, according to Edgartown police.
"Thank you for everyone's concern over the past several days," Edgartown police said. "We have shared your concern for Max and his safety."

Edgartown police had said on Friday that Max was no longer believed to be on the island.
Edgartown police said Max's owner was charged with abusing the dog after the Martha's Vineyard Times reported witnesses said the Rhode Island man "continuously kicked the dog in the side."

Police said an officer saw the Rhode Island man roughly yanking the dog's leash on Upper Main Street, and that it appeared the dog was deprived of water on a very hot day.
Edgartown police said the Animal Control League placed Max with a foster owner after a examination, but Max missing as of Monday and remained missing as of Friday.
