Martha's Vineyard Blizzard Warning: 8-12 Inches of Snow Expected

MARTHA’S VINEYARD, MA — A blizzard will bury Martha’s Vineyard in up to a foot of snow Saturday.

The National Weather Service issued a blizzard watch for Martha’s Vineyard and Block Island starting Saturday at 1 p.m. There will be 8-12 inches of heavy, wet snow—accompanied by 55 mph wind gusts. Power outages are likely.

The heaviest part of the storm will hit Saturday afternoon, when there could be whiteout conditions. Martha’s Vineyard residents should stay indoors, NWS said.

THE BRUNT OF THE STORM WITH HEAVY SNOW...STRONG WINDS AND BLIZZARD CONDITIONS WILL OCCUR SATURDAY AFTERNOON INTO SATURDAY EVENING. SNOWFALL RATES MAY REACH 1 TO 2 INCHES AN HOUR AT TIMES.
