MV Iyanough Ferry To End High-Speed Service Until Spring

The ferry will end its high-speed service for the season starting Jan. 3.

MARTHA'S VINEYARD, MA—The M/V Iyanough ferry will end its high-speed service for the season starting Sunday, Jan. 3, said the Steamship Authority in a Twitter post on Tuesday.

Following the winter break, the passenger-only vessel is scheduled to resume the high-speed service on Thursday, April 1.

The M/V Iyanough, named after the Indian Sachem Chief of the Mattacheese tribe of Cummaquid, MA, serves the 26 mile route between Hyannis and Nantucket with a 1 hour crossing time.

Since 2007, the vessel has been providing passengers with a luxury ride, including flat-panel LCD TVs, a snack bar with beer, wine and mixed drinks, and a menu with both hot and cold food items.
