Oak Bluffs Man Accused Of Slashing Tires, Smashing Headlights

Police said an "unresolved personal matter" was behind the vandalism of a Jeep in Tisbury.

TISBURY, MA — A personal dispute was behind the tire slashing and headlight smashing of a Jeep in Tisbury on Thursday, according to Tisbury police.

An Oak Bluffs man was charged with felony malicious destruction of property valued at more than $1,2000 after police said Joshua Potter, 36, was accused of trashing the Jeep.

Police said they responded to a report of vandalism at the Tisbury Park and Ride and found the 2006 Jeep Commander with four tires slashed by a knife, both headlights smashed and a rear taillight smashed.

With the help of a Vineyard Transit Authority, a suspicious vehicle was targeted and the motive was determined to be an "unresolved personal mater between the victim and the suspect, who know each other."

No other vehicles in the parking area were targeted.

The Tisbury Police said they appreciate the assistance provided by the VTA in protecting the property of patrons of the Tisbury Park and Ride.
