Oak Bluffs Police Warn Of Package Scam

Police said residents on the island have been a target of the scam.

OAK BLUFFS, MA — Oak Bluffs police are warning island residents of a new scam involving packages supposedly owed to them.

Police said the scam includes a unsolicited text message to a resident letting them know that a package or parcel is waiting for them, and directing them to click on a link to find out what it is and how to have it delivered.

Oak Bluffs police said the scam has been circulating both locally and nationally.

Police said not to respond to the text or click on the link.

Those receiving this type of text are asked to report it to the Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov/complaint.
