Report Of Martha's Vineyard Christmas Shooting Prooves False

West Tisbury police said incident that drew large response Wednesday morning was a mental health situation with no weapons and no injuries.

MARTHA'S VINEYARD — West Tisbury police sought to reassure the public that a report of an early morning shooting on Christmas was a false alarm. Police no weapons were found, and there were no injuries, in what they are calling a mental health situation.

Police said multiple agencies were dispatched to the reported shooting early Christmas morning, but given the commotion wanted to reassure the public that the incident was resolved without any shots fired. Police said the patient was brought to the hospital for evaluation.

Police thanked all the police, fire and emergency medical services personnel who responded to the incident early on Christmas morning.
