As the first week of the 67th Striped Bass and Bluefish Derby comes to a close, there are already some great stories to tell. There’s been a , of fish has been caught and the fishing has been better then it’s been in years.
This upcoming weekend marks the first Special Saturday of the Derby - where the fishermen who catch heaviest bluefish (both shore and boat-caught) will win $500 and on Sunday is Kids Derby day at the Steamship Authority in Oak Bluffs. Kids age 4 – 14 fish from dawn to 9 am – all win a t-shirt and no registration is required.
Anyone who has participated in the Derby has a story to tell and we want to hear it. Nelson Sigelman has collected some great Derby Stories on the Derby Website, and we want to hear yours.
