Tesla Opening Cape Cod Store

Tesla is opening a retail store on Cape Cod this month.

MASHPEE, MA — Tesla is coming to Cape Cod.

The electric carmaker is opening a retail store in the Mashpee Commons commercial plaza this month on Fri., May 27, according to company spokeswoman Sonja Koch. That same day, Tesla is opening a similar store in East Hampton, N.Y. the same day.

"Unlike traditional automotive dealerships, Tesla galleries invite customers to learn about electric driving with enticing visuals, interactive displays, and a design studio where customers can create their own Tesla," Koch said.

The Mashpee store is Tesla's first in the region. It has four other stores in Boston, Dedham, Hingham, and Natick. Telsa also has a service center in Watertown and over a dozen charging locations across the state.

Telsa said it has produced over 120,000 electric vehicles for consumers. In addition to cars, Tesla manufactures energy storage products.
