Three Martha's Vineyard Towns In Coronavirus Red Zone
Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, and Tisbury are all considered high-risk communities as of Dec. 17.

MARTHA'S VINEYARD, MA—Oak Bluffs and Tisbury have once again joined Edgartown in the coronavirus "red zone" category due to a surge in positive cases locally and statewide.
The "red zone" status means that the three communities are at the highest risk of COVID-19 transmission and have experienced over 25 cases in a population of under 10,000 people.
Edgartown has been a coronavirus "red zone" since November 19, while Oak Bluffs and Tisbury have been moderate risk communities since Dec. 3.

The latest statistics released by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health on Thursday reveal that Edgartown has reported a total of 121 cases, with 31 reported in the last 14 days. The town has an average daily incidence rate of 54.2 and a positivity rate of 5.42%.
Oak Bluffs has experienced a total of 91 coronavirus cases, with 35 reported in the last 14 days. The town has an average daily incidence rate of 48.0 and a positivity rate of 7.54%.

Tisbury has had the highest number of cases on the island, with a total of 130 cases and 26 reported in the last 14 days. The town has an average daily incidence rate of 44.5 a positivity rate of 3.36%.
The Island's sustained uptick in COVID-19 cases comes during a statewide increase in cases, with 178 communities at high risk for virus transmission as of Thursday. The state reported 4,985 new cases and 44 new deaths on Thursday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 297,301 and the total number of deaths among confirmed cases to 11,305.
