UMass-Lowell Lacrosse Player Scores After Losing Leg
Noelle Lambert of Londonderry, who lost a leg in a Martha's Vineyard moped crash in 2016, scored in her first game back for the team.

LOWELL, MA — It appears nothing — not even losing a leg — can keep Noelle Lambert from the lacrosse field. Lambert, who plays attack for UMass-Lowell, lost a leg in a 2016 moped crash on Martha's Vineyard. She was fitted with a prothesis and worked for nearly two years to get back on the field. In her first game back Saturday since the crash, she not only got back on the field — she scored a goal. It sent her teammates into a frenzy.

"I broke down in tears," Lambert said in a post-game interview. "That was a special moment."
Lambert's goal came toward the end of the first quarter. Fighting for position in front of the net, she cradled a pass from teammate Kendyl Finelli and one-timed it into the back of the net for the goal.

Lambert surprised her coach, who just wanted her junior attack "to get her feet wet" in her first game back.
"She turned an opportunity into a remarkable one," Carissa Medeiros said in a post-game interview.

Lambert, a Londonderry, New Hampshire, native, was injured July 28, 2016, in Oak Bluffs on Martha's Vineyard. She was driving a moped when police said she lost control and struck a dump truck. Doctors were forced to amputate her left leg.
Despite her standout performance Saturday, Lambert isn't satisfied.
"I'm nowhere close to where I want to be," she added during the post-game interview.
Lambert's next test is Wednesday when her team takes on Harvard.
