EDGARTOWN, MA — Edgartown police said the wooden vessel stripped of engines, fuel tanks and equipment that washed up on the shore of State Beach was not part of any U.S. Coast Guard search-and-rescue operation. Police said they are working with the Massachusetts Environmental police to determine the origin of the boat.

Police said mariners still on the water amid the coronavirus pandemic should use caution because some of the vessel could pose a navigational hazard. There is debris scattered along the coastline from East Chop to State Beach.

Edgartown police posted a photo of what remains of the vessel on Instagram here.
