Vineyard Wind and Politicians Vs Fishing Industry

Politicians ignored health and safety documents of land-based wind turbines and now again with ocean wind turbines at Block Island, RI.

Politicians and news media have for years been hiding the simple fact that all the warning documents that the land-based wind turbines in twenty-one Massachusetts communities were far too loud. Falmouth is ground zero for poorly placed wind turbines in the United States. The August 2010 Vestas wind turbine company warning letter to the Town of Falmouth to this day remains hidden from public view. The land-based wind program in Massachusetts was acknowledged as a health and financial disaster in Congressional Hearings.

The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection tasked to protect the citizens of Massachusetts from excessive noise was brokering wind turbine financing on megawatt wind turbines they knew was too loud before they were installed.

Massachusetts politicians with the backing of the media are again putting the cart before the horse rushing to implement the ocean wind turbines ignoring all the warning signs again.

The Block Island, Rhode Island wind turbine project was five ocean wind turbines spread out about 1/2 mile or 2600 feet apart with underground electric submarine cables. The turbines power rating is 6 megawatts each were built as a demonstration project.

Politicians and the media pumped out stories the Block Island wind farm if accepted by the Rhode Islanders would save Block Island residents 40 percent on their electric bills sadly they believed the propaganda and the savings never happened.

The electric submarine cables were engineered to be buried below the ocean grade but as everyone knows the Block Island, RI. submarine cable years later remains exposed and not repaired. Massachusetts politicians are again ignoring what happened at the demonstration project allowing two 220,000 volt electric cables to be thrown in Muskeget Channel off Martha's Vineyard and be buried under Covell and Centerville Beach in Barnstable.

Over the past few weeks, Massachusetts politicians are up in arms that the Vineyard Wind project is being held up by the federal government. Massachusetts politicians have done everything to fast track the ocean wind turbine project including throwing the fishing industry under the bus for a foreign wind turbine investment company building all their parts outside the United States.

The fishing industry wants the spacing of the wind turbines to be one nautical mile or 6000 feet or almost three times the distance of the Block Island demonstration project.

The news media and politicians omit as much safety, health and warnings as possible to now just like the failed land-based wind projects again fast track the ocean wind projects.

On January 1, 2019, New Year's eve while almost everyone was celebrating the new year drinking, watching parades and fireworks the fishing industry boats were hard a work bringing in their catch.

The Mistress a 52-foot fishing trawler in the vicinity of the Block Island wind farm at 1:30 AM took on the water which overtook the engine room.

US Coast Guard search efforts from an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and a 45-foot response boat were initially stopped due to unsafe weather conditions in or around the Block Island wind farm vicinity. The Block Island wind turbines are spaced 2600 feet or one-half mile apart.

The fishing boat accident did take place in the vicinity of the Block Island wind farm there is no way of getting around the facts and the facts are the facts despite what the news media reports.

The Vineyard Wind turbines are larger than the Block Island ocean wind turbines.

The fishing industry has health, safety and financial interest near the ocean wind turbines wants a 6000-foot space between the turbines. The wind industry doesn't want the space because of the cost of the electric submarine cables. So what comes first safety and health or expenses just like the land based wind turbine health fiasco?

Final note: The news media who are your friends and neighbors continue to poke fun at President Donald Trump for his statement that wind turbines cause cancer when in fact they do. Massachusetts land-based wind turbines generate two distinct types of noise which include low-frequency infrasound keeping residents around the wind turbine awake lowering their resistance and their immune systems.

Placing wind turbines anywhere in Massachusetts has become a political agenda taking health and property rights in twenty-one communities and now taking the livelihood of the fishing industry.

They are taking everything you have for a political agenda gone horribly wrong.
