West Tisbury Honors Police Officer Of The Year

WEST TISBURY, MA — West Tisbury Police Chief Matthew Mincone has honored Sgt. Matthew Gebo as the department's 2019 Officer of the Year. Gebo becomes the second Officer of the Year after Bradley Cortez won the inaugural award last year.

"Matt is a respect member of the department and consistent advocate for community policing," Chief Mincone. "He understands the importance that relationships are the foundation to leadership."

Sgt. Gebo joined the department in 2009 and was promoted to sergeant in 2018. He has been a detective and now oversees all investigations. He is also certified in mental health first aid and is a crisis intervention team member.

Sgt. Gebo is also the boys basketball coach at West Tisbury School and assists coaching with the high school baseball team.
