Woman Who Lost Leg In MV Crash Is Off To Tokyo Paralympics

After losing a leg in a brutal crash, Noelle Lambert is off to prove nothing can stop her from achieving her dreams.

MARTHA'S VINEYARD — Noelle Lambert will head to Tokyo to represent Team USA in the Paralympic games.

Lambert, 24, of Manchester, New Hampshire has qualified to compete in the 100-meter race in track and field after getting first place in the Paralympics trials in Minneapolis a few weeks ago.

Lambert lost her leg in a moped accident on Martha's Vineyard in 2016. Her website says she was visiting Martha's Vineyard for the first time when she and her friend hopped on a moped, lost control and collided with a dump truck. Doctors were forced to amputate her severed left leg.

The former Division One Lacrosse player was fitted with a prosthesis, and worked two years to get herself literally back on her feet.

Lambert went on to create the Born To Run Foundation - a non-profit dedicated to help provide child amputees with proper prosthetics that will allow them to run again.

“Nobody realizes how expensive prosthetics are. I’ve been really lucky; I’ve had a couple foundations help me. We will help kids as well as adults that have to navigate through this new phase of life.” Lambert says on her website.

Lambert heads to Tokyo on August 20. In an Instagram post, Lambert thanks everyone who has helped her get this far. "I truly wouldn’t be here without the help and support from ALL OF YOU! Excited to represent my country, and to compete with the best in the world!!! TOKYO HERE I COME!"
