4 Coronavirus Cases Identified In Medfield Schools Sunday

Officials say the cases are not related and are not evidence of in-school transmission.

MEDFIELD, MA — Medfield Public Schools on Sunday announced three students and one staff member have tested positive for the coronavirus.

In a letter to parents and students, Medfield Superintendent Jeff Marsden said one student at each of Wheelock School, Blake Middle School and Medfield High School had the virus. A staff member at Dale St. School also tested positive.

Marsden said the three students and the staff member all participated in in-person learning during their infectious period, which is defined by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health as 48 hours before symptoms began or before a positive test was received.

School officials said close contacts of all four people have been notified. Because each case occurred at a different school, Marsden said there is no evidence of in-school transmission.
