In honor of Small Business Saturday, Patch is shining a spotlight on some local small businesses. Today, we look at Designs by Lorraine, a floral shop that started in Medfield nearly 25 years ago.
Here’s what founder and owner Lorraine Lee, a Medfield native and resident, has to say about her shop.

I opened my flower shop in Medfield Center across the street from Lords on Good Friday April 13, 1990. I guess Friday the 13th was a lucky day for me. I was there for seven years than moved to 65 Main St. Millis, right over the Charles River, and have been here for 17 years.
I grew up in the flower business, working for Lovell’s at the age of 14 and all through high school and college. My college major was fashion merchandising, but my passion and love, I found out later, was making people happy with my flowers.

Coming to work every day in a beautiful environment, smelling the flowers, seeing the beauty of them and then using my talent to design bouquets, it’s what makes me tick. I love it! Hard work, long hours, battling two recessions, but I am still here.
I thank all my customers and community that have supported me throughout the 25 years. Medfield has always been my home, and I am so grateful this Thanksgiving!
I am planning a big party at the shop, 65 Main St., Millis, on Sunday, April 12, 2015 for our 25 year celebration.
