Former Medfield Basketball Coaches to be Inducted into New England Basketball Hall of Fame

A pair of former Medfield basketball coaches were named to the New England Basketball Hall of Fame's Class of 2015.

A pair of former Medfield basketball coaches named to the New England Basketball Hall of Fame’s Class of 2015 are to be inducted later this week, according to published reports.

George “Bo” Ruggiero and Joe Farroba will be inducted into the hall of fame on Saturday, Aug. 8, at the DCU Center in Worcester, according to a report HometownWeekly.net.

Ruggiero spent eight years coaching at Medfield High School, where he amassed 132 wins and three 20-win seasons, according to a report from the Sun Chronicle. His success wasn’t limited to Medfield or the high school level as Ruggiero also coached the women’s program at Bridgewater State University to 108 wins over five seasons, the report said.

Farroba taught in Medfield and spent three seasons coaching the Medfield High School basketball team before taking a job at Bridgewater State University, according to the report from HometownWeekly.net. Since assuming the role as head coach at Bridgewater State in 1992, Farroba has amassed a record of 333-278 in 23 years, the Sun Chronicle reported.

Ruggiero is also a member of the Massachusetts Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame and the Medfield High School Hall of Fame, according to the Sun Chronicle.

Additionally, Farroba has also been inducted into the Bridgewater State Athletics Hall of Fame and the McGill University Basketball Wall of Honour, the Sun Chronicle reported.
