A Medfield Historical Minute...

This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.

"In 1750 John Fisher added the present two story, five-bay house with center chimney on to the original 1651 structure built by Joshua Fisher. Parts of that original structure may still be in the present-day building. The house was purchased in 1811 by Alex Peters, who in turn sold it to Dr. James Hewins in 1814. Hewins, a graduate from Harvard, was Medfield’s only physician for over 40 years until his death in 1846. In the late 19th century Colonial Revival updates were added to the 435 Main Street house, across the street from the Baptist Church. Changes, this century, included its conversion into the present-day condominium complex."
