A Medfield Historical Minute...
This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.
"During the 1926-1927 school year, Medfield High School athletic teams had a trying time. Although, the football team did not have a very good season, the players did get a great deal of experience. The scores for the season were; Medway-38, Medfield -0 / Dover-0, Medfield -0/ Holden-7, Medfield -6/ Millis-27, Medfield-0 /Holden-40, Medfield-0 / Dover-11, Medfield -0 /Millis-32, Medfield-0. Due to lack of a gymnasium or any place to play, the school was unable to field a basketball team. The hockey team was able to play only one game because of lack of ice. The game played was against Medway and Medfield won 2-0. The baseball season saw 20 players on the team under Coach Palumbo. The team ended the season at 7 wins, 7 losses. Medfield’s biggest win was over Upton by the score of 19-2."
