Forty Fifth Week, Wednesday's "Medfield Historical Minute"
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis.

A Medfield Historical Minute...
This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.
"John B. Derby was the son of John of Salem and was a lawyer by profession. He married Mary Townsend of Dedham in 1820. They came to Medfield later that year and lived in what is today the Dwight-Derby House on Frairy Street. The two separated and John left town. Mary remained at the Dwight-Derby House until her death in 1880. Their son George was wounded in the Mexican-American War, became a captain of the U.S. Corps of Topographical Engineers and was known in literary circles as “John Phoenix.”
