UPDATE: Residents return home After Gas Main Explosion Evacuates Neighborhood, Schools
Flames were reportedly visible as gas continued to leak at South and Phillip streets.

Residents have been allowed to return home after homes, schools and sports fields around South and Phillip streets were evacuated after a gas explosion in the area.
Flames were visible and gas continued to leak as authorities were responding to the scene, according to a post on the Medfield town Twitter feed. The gas line was reportedly being worked on at the time of the explosion. No injuries have been reported.
All afternoon and evening high school activities were cancelled, Medfield High School Principal Robert Parga tweeted, and a volleyball match has moved to Millis High School. A cancelled field hockey game will be made up at a later date.
