Hannah Adams Woman's Club grants scholarships to Medfield seniors

Class of 2020 scholarship winners released

The Class of 2020 Hannah Adams Woman's Club scholarships were awarded to Medfield seniors Katie Barrett, Jillian Diliberto, and Brenna Skerry. Each student received a $1,000 scholarship for the college or university of their choice: Miss Barrett is attending Northeastern University, majoring in nursing; Miss Diliberto is attending the University of Massachusetts Amherst, majoring in psychology and legal studies; and Miss Skerry is attending the University of New Hampshire, undecided major in the College of Health and Human Science.

These annual scholarships, which vary in dollar amount each year, are granted to graduating seniors who live in Medfield, are graduating from Medfield High School and/or Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School, and who have an educational plan to attend a recognized school, institute or university. Note, there were no winners in 2020 from Tri-County RVTHS.

HAWC Scholarships are primarily need-based, although secondary consideration may be given to extracurricular activities, community service and academic achievement when available. Applications are available through each high school's guidance office.

The Hannah Adams Woman's Club is the longest running women's club in America. It was founded in 1894 and was inspired by Medfield resident Hannah Adams (1755-1831), an historianwho was the first woman in America to earn a living as a professional writer.
