MEDFIELD, MA — July 4 events across the country will look different this year thanks to the coronavirus. Many cities and towns have been forced to cancel the annual Independence Day events, including Sharon, Needham and other communities near Medfield.
In Foxborough, there may still be some events, but a decision on their cancellation is pending.
Fireworks were originally scheduled dusk on July 3 at Patriots Place, but the organizers are still deciding whether to have them. The annual showing of Captain America was originally scheduled for July 2.
There is one local event to watch: Although the Boston July 4 Fireworks show was canceled, the iconic Boston Pops will still hold a musical performance online. The event will air on Bloomberg Television, Bloomberg Radio, and Boston's WHDH-TV at 8 p.m. Saturday, July 4. Boston Pops Salute to Our Heroes will also be available to live stream at Bloomberg.com.

Worcester will also host an event online July 1 beginning at 7 p.m. featuring performances. That city's July 4 fireworks and accompanying festivities have been canceled.
