Medfield Lions “Coins for Change” MLERF Collection
Please Drop your "Change" into the MLERF Collection Box!
As many residents may recall, the Medfield Lions Club held an annual “Toll Road” Collection in the springtime. Lions Club members would be positioned around the center of town and at busy Saturday morning spots like Blue Moon Café and Starbucks asking for donations to support the Mass. Lions Eye Research Fund (MLERF).
Unfortunately, due to Covid, the Medfield Lions were not able to hold a MLERF collection in 2020, but this year, in lieu of a “Toll Road” collection, there will be an opportunity for everyone to donate coins, bills or even VENMO a donation to the “Coins for Change” MLERF Collection.

Beginning Saturday, March 6th and throughout at least the month of March, a blue MLERF collection container, generously created and donated by Medfield resident Paul McNeil, will be prominently displayed outside of Needham Bank in the drive-thru area. Whether you are a Needham Bank customer or not, you are encouraged to support this MLERF collection.
If using VENMO to donate makes things easier, the Medfield Lions Club will graciously accept your donation @Medfield-Lions (or simply hover your SmartPhone over the QR Code on the Collection Box)!!

The Medfield Lions Club and MLERF greatly appreciate any financial support you are able to donate to make a "change", support EYE RESEARCH and to end baby blindness.
MLERF STORY - In 1951, the LIONS of Massachusetts became aware that each year, 2,500 premature babies were losing their sight at birth from so-called ‘baby blindness’.
As a result, the MLERF - Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund was formed in October 1951, dedicating itself to funding research.
Our first grant of $5,000 was given to Dr. Ingalls of Harvard Medical School who was instrumental in discovering the cause of baby blindness: too much oxygen being used in the incubators of premature babies. Today, over 125,000 adults can see because of the foresight and concern of these Lions.
