Medfield Outages Under Control After Nearly 400 Were In The Dark

More than 200,000 customers awoke to no power across the state.

MEDFIELD, MA — More than 188,000 are still without power in Massachusetts as of 1:17 p.m. following last night's storm. Medfield was one of the least affected areas with "only" 395 customers reporting no power according to Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency as of 8 a.m. Emergency crews have since gotten the outages under control, as just 13 customers are without power in Medfield, as of 1:17 p.m.

Last night Eversource, the state's largest provider, said it was bracing for the storm, but has made no estimate on how long repairs might take this morning.

High winds in excess of 90 miles per hour last night along the coast, creating a "Bomb Cyclone" made things worse for folks on the Cape and the Islands, according to the National Weather Service.

A dozen communities have between 80 and 100 percent of its power customers in the dark as the day started. Cohasset, Scituate and Norwell have nearly 16,000 customers without power between them. All 2,050 customers in Essex are in the dark.
