Rev. Dr. Philip Bauman, Senior Pastor of UCC Medfield, Announces Retirement

The Reverend Dr. Philip J. Bauman will retire from his role as the Senior Pastor of UCC Medfield on August 31, 2021 after 25 years of faithful service to his congregation and to the Medfield community.

Under Pastor Phil’s leadership UCC Medfield grew as a congregation that focused on discipleship, Christian education, mission, and service. As a result of those efforts, the Soup to Go ministry, serving homeless men and women in Boston, was established; “Mission Possible,” a day of service in Medfield and surrounding communities, was started; ministries for children and youth blossomed; the Mom’s group and adult Bible Study groups began. He was integral to initiating UCC’s multiyear partnership with World Vision Uganda in support of the St Thomas Moore secondary school in Koro Bobi, Uganda and led several trips with members of the congregation to visit the school and sponsored children.

On behalf of the broader community, Pastor Phil has worked with Medfield Outreach to co-administer the Medfield Foundation’s Public Need Funds (including the Angel Run and Covid 19 funds) since the Angel Run was initiated. He has long supported use of the UCC Medfield’s building for use by the Medfield Food Cupboard and other community organizations. He was instrumental in the formation of Amilia’s Light, an organization that empowers survivors of human trafficking in Kampala, Uganda. He continues to lead marriage workshops in Tanzania with the Youth Alignment Initiative.
