Former Varsity Softball Captains Offer Summer Skills Clinic

Former varsity softball captains and Medfield residents, Laura Clifford (MHS ’20) and Katie Moon (Phillips Exeter Academy ’21), will be running a youth softball clinic for the second year this summer.

The clinic will revolve around building the core fundamentals of softball--that includes hitting, throwing, pitching, fielding, and base running. No prior softball experience is necessary, and all experience levels welcome. This clinic is targeted primarily towards players in grades 1-5, though exceptions can be made for younger/older players.

This will run for two, three-day sessions at Schilling Field from 9am-1pm.

Katie Moon graduated this year from Phillips Exeter Academy, a boarding school in New Hampshire. She was an outfielder on the varsity softball team and served as a captain her senior year. She went through Medfield's school system up until freshman year and played softball in town since first grade, and is excited to share her love for softball with the younger students in the community.

Laura Clifford graduated from MHS and is a rising sophomore at University of Vermont, studying Education. She has played softball since first grade, playing at the varsity level for all four years of high school. She was honored with both Tri-Valley All-Star and Boston Globe All-Star distinction in her sophomore and junior years, and was primarily a pitcher and first baseman (did not get to experience senior year as a result of Covid). She loved the Medfield softball program and is happy to pass that on to younger children.
